New Construction in Crestview, FL and Niceville, FL - Beth Little

 I was recently talking to another Realtor and they told me, "Randy is building basements the way they are supposed to be built."  That got me to thinking.  I hadn't really thought about the basements that were being put into the Randy Wise Homes in Swift Creek.  The houses I'm selling in Crestview, FL don't have them.  But a new Randy Wise Homes subdivision is opening in Niceville, FL called Hawks Landing, and it will offer basements.  Since I will be selling those, I knew some research would be necessary.

Randy set up a tour of one of the basements in Swift Creek, and this is what I learned.  Randy Wise Homes, Inc. uses poured concrete to form the walls of the basement.  Not concrete block.  Then the walls are waterproofed both inside and out to further guard against moisture.  I learned that concrete block is more likely to seep moisture, than poured concrete. 

Another plus is that the sandy soil in our area is conducive to proper drainage of water runoff.  Soil heavy in clay can hold moisture against the walls and lead to seepage. 

It has been a long time since I've seen a walkout basement, they are not common in this area.  I was amazed at the extra amount of space this adds to the floorplan.  I took some pictures while we were touring the basement.
