If I were to bring up the subject of this blog to a room full of Realtors, they would not be happy with me.  (Therefore, I will NOT bring the subject of this blog up in a room full of Realtors.)   Nor would I ever bring this subject up while you were looking at one of our houses WITH a Realtor.  That would be rude..don't you think?  To be honest, I don't bring it up in a face to face with my customers.  Ever. 

What subject am I talking about?  Buying your new construction home directly from the builder and saving money.  Why don't I bring it up?  Because it's kind of a secret.  But, it's true.  You CAN save.

Buying and selling real estate hinges on dollars and cents, and it just makes sense that purchasing directly from the builder allows you to get a few more dollars out of the builder.  Why is the subject touchy to my fellow Realtors? Well, they are afraid of having their customers stolen.  We're not out to steal customers!  We don't care how our houses get sold, just so they get sold.  You can kind of compare it to buying a new treadmill at Sears, or buying it directly from the manufacturer.  Same treadmill, same warranty, different cost - you decide how you want to buy it. The manufacturer doesn't care.

I sold general real estate for 5 years, and I can say without hesitation that when purchasing a resale - you definitely need to find a knowledgeable agent.  There are just too many pitfalls associated with buying a used house.  However, it's pretty straight forward purchasing a new construction from Whitworth Builders.  We don't do custom homes, so the contracts are not complicated.  Your agent doesn't write the contract anyway, I do.  And in this market, buyers are wanting more and more value put into their home. One option you can consider is to come directly to the builder (before you start working with an agent) to see what kind of deal he or she can give you.

So, here this blog is.  A little nugget of information just waiting to be gleaned by those who actually read the blogs on my website.  I will never directly mention this subject matter should we meet in person.  YOU must decide whether to buy your treadmill (ahem) from Sears or go straight to the manufacturer.

Land of the Lost Movie based on 70's Saturday Morning Cartoon Coming Soon!

"Marshall, Will, and Holly...on a routine expedition...met the greaaaatest earthquake ever known...."   I just typed that from memory, and unfortunately now it will be running through my head all day.  I know that some of you may not remember Land of the Lost, but I sure do.  It was my favorite Saturday Morning cartoon. (Yes, I watched it as an infant - stop trying to guess my age!)  The Sleestak actually scared me, even though you could see the zipper running up the back of their costume. 

Now when I look back I realize it was one of the campiest shows ever made.  Look at the introduction to the original Saturday morning cartoon and you'll see what I mean.

Anyway, I just found out Will Farrell is starring in a remake of Land of the Lost.  He's playing the role of Rick Marshall.  For old time's sake, I hope the film is as cheesy as the cartoon.  Here is a trailer for the movie.
