And I don't even know her!

Usually, I try not to vere to far into personal issues when I blog on my Realtor website.  But, I can't help it sometimes.  And this is one of those times.  I have become a huge fan of Susan Boyle.  She is the Scottish singer who recently auditioned for "Britain's Got Talent".  The video of her audition has become viral on you tube, with over 5 million views. 

Her audition touched me, as it obviously has many others.  Why?  Because Susan Boyle, a 47 year old unemployed spinster, who by her own account has never even been on a date, had a dream.  She wants to sing before a large audience.  She wants to be a professional singer.  So she puts on her fancy dress (and some pretty kickin' pumps if you ask me) and she took herself down to the audition. 

Now in America, we've seen what it is like to be on American Idol and stand in front of Simon Cowell - it can be brutal.  And you can tell by the audition video that everyone was ready to discount her.  But this little lady had a dream, and when she began to sing it was such a wonderful "IN YOUR FACE!" moment from her to everybody.

Susan Boyle's bodaciousness (bodacious = bold + audacious) is what inspires me.  It reminds me that we should NEVER give up on a dream.  Or let what others think of us influence our actions in life. 

Imagine if Susan Boyle hadn't put on her fancy dress and marched her bodacious self out onto the stage.  The world would have never had the pleasure of hearing her beautiful voice, and she would still be wondering - what if?  Now she knows.  How great a feeling is that!?! 

I have a feeling she's about to start living her dream.

Recently there has been some concern in the press about drywall manufactured in China.  Homeowners in South Florida have complained about a bad smell and corrosive gas being emitted from the drywall.  Whitworth Builders, Inc. checked with our wall board supplier and found that ours is manufactured in Florida.  Click here to see letter from our supplier.

It is obvious that our lawmakers will NEVER spend our dollars as carefully as we do.  In spite of almost 9,000 earmarks, President Obama is expected to sign the 419 BILLION dollar spending bill for the fiscal year 2009. 

I thought President Obama pledged to stop wasteful government spending.  You would think during this economic recession that our legislators could pull together - just this once - and try to pass a budget free from pork.  But that pork will have to sprout wings and fly before that will happen.  I'm tired of the "I got mine, you get your's" attitude in Washington.

I'm saddened to think that our children and grandchildren will be stuck paying for the massive deficit that we have accumulated.  We haven't been very good stewards of their future, and we are not leaving them a "better America".

Recent action by the City of Valparaiso prompted the Economic Development Council of Okaloosa County to urge its members to let their voices be heard http://www.florida-edc.org/DSI/EDC%20launches%20campaign%20to%20support%20F35.pdf.  The Niceville/Valparaiso Chamber of Commerce recently released a statement regarding their stance on Valparaiso's actions regarding the bedding down of the F-35 at Eglin AFG

Now, the citizens of Valparaiso have joined in the efforts to stop the City of Valparaiso from pursuing litigation against the Air Force.

There is a rally planned in Valparaiso from 7 am to 9 pm  and 3 pm to 5 pm on Friday, March 6, 2009 at "Say Cake" bakery on John Sims Parkway.  A petition will be available to sign.  You can also sign an online petition at the following link: http://valp35.com/ .

On March 13th from 10 am to 2 pm Chris Hughes is sponsoring a "sign the billboard event" at Uptown Station.  There will be a bbq luncheon with all proceeds to the American Heart Association.  Chris Hughes is asking that those who support the F-35 relocation to sign the giant billboard.
